Turning On And Off The Special Effects:

The Zoom open windows check box allows you to turn on or off the feature that makes windows (such as Get Info windows) appear to “grow” out of the control that caused them to be shown. The only time you might want to turn this off is to get optimum speed on a slower machine like a Mac Plus, or if you tend to open many of Alert!’s Get Info windows at the same time.

The Animate graphics check box is for turning off the motion that occurs in the Alert! window while a diagnosis is underway. This will also speed up operation when running on an older Macintosh. This will not turn off the thermometer progress indicator.
